The granddaughter of Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, Navya Naveli Nanda, has recently announced the joining of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad for an online MBA programme.

Navya announced her admission to the Blended Post Graduate Programme (BPGP) through an Instagram post on Sunday night, expressing that it was a "dream come true."

However, her announcement was quickly flooded with online criticism. Some users questioned the legitimacy of her course, suggesting it wasn’t a “real MBA,” while others speculated whether her admission was influenced by her star lineage, with some even hinting at the possibility of a quota.

In response to the backlash, IIM Ahmedabad’s Associate Professor Promila Agarwal took to social media on Monday to clarify the situation. Addressing the allegations, Agarwal firmly stated that IIM-A does not offer quotas for any of its programmes and that Nanda was admitted purely on merit, having cleared the necessary cut-offs and interviews like any other candidate. She emphasised that Nanda has a "solid CV" and deserved her spot in the programme.
