kerala-s-gender-neutral-school-textbooks-break-traditional-stereotypes
Kerela government is making significant changes in the textbooks to show men and other family members working together in a kitchen alongside women, breaking traditional stereotypes.

This initiative aims to dismantle entrenched gender stereotypes and cultivate a more inclusive outlook among children from an early age.

As students and parents returned from a two-month summer break, they were greeted with new instructional materials that featured progressive representations of gender roles. The most striking changes were the inclusion of images depicting fathers engaged in domestic activities traditionally associated with women

One such image from a Class 3 Malayalam-medium textbook, shared on social media by General Education Minister V Sivankutty, shows a father sitting on the kitchen floor, scraping coconut, while his wife cooks, while an English medium textbook shows a father cooking snacks for his daughter.
