new-format-proposed-for-neet-ug-digital-questions
New strategies discussed in the wake of improvement of the NEET exams in reforms of the wake of the recent NEET UG paper leak, a government-appointed panel led by former ISRO head Dr K Radhakrishnan has proposed a series of reforms to tighten exam security. Among the top suggestions are conducting NEET UG in multiple stages, delivering question papers digitally, and using a hybrid model where answers are recorded on OMR sheets.

These changes are aimed at reducing security risks and ensuring fairness in one of India’s most competitive exams.

Given NEET UG’s large pool of nearly 20 lakh aspirants, the panel proposes a multi-stage exam format similar to the JEE, which has JEE Main and Advanced stages. This proposed two-stage approach would make it easier to manage security protocols while reducing the number of candidates per session.

The committee has also suggested limiting the number of NEET UG attempts, as candidates currently have unlimited retakes, leading to excessive competition.

This step, they hope, will prevent large-scale disruptions like those seen in previous NEET exams.
