Ayurveda Biology, for the first time will be included, as one of the subjects, marking a significant step toward blending traditional systems with mainstream academic fields.

This decision, aimed at promoting Ayurveda within the educational framework, was approved during the University Grants Commission's (UGC) 581st meeting on June 25, 2024, based on proposals from an expert panel.

The addition of Ayurveda Biology to UGC NET’s syllabus will officially begin with the December 2024 exam session.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts UGC NET, a major exam for selecting candidates for lectureships and Junior Research Fellowships across Indian universities.

With Ayurveda Biology now on the syllabus, the scope for academic research in this ancient medical science will expand, supporting the growth of Ayurveda within India's educational and research landscape.

The UGC’s inclusion of Ayurveda Biology signals a commitment to strengthening India's traditional knowledge systems within higher education.
