World Students' Day is observed annually on October 15. The birth anniversary of India's former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is celebrated as world students' day to commemorate his achievements and love for students. To celebrate this day, schools conduct special programs highlighting the achievements of Dr Kalam and students are wished by the teachers and parents. However, World Students Day is a day which has not been officially declared by the United Nations. As per the calendar of the UN, October 15 is celebrated as the International Day of Rural Women.

Dr. APJ. Abdul Kalam was known as “People’s President” due to his humble approach towards life and people. Famous as 'Missile Man of India', Dr Kalam was born on October 15, 1931. He served as the President of India from 2002 to 2007 and was an eminent scientist who worked with the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) for over 40 years.
