On the day of International Disability Day on December 3 draws near, concerns about the denial of education for children with disabilities have come to the forefront. Many parents are speaking out about the challenges they face.

One such parent is Madhuri Patle, Mrs India Universe 2023, whose three-year-old son, diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), has been rejected by local schools twice. This has left her deeply disappointed and worried about his educational future.

My child was attending regular pre-school without any issues," said Madhuri Patle. She has been trying to enroll her three-year-old son in a school to provide him with a proper learning environment. Patle highlighted that children with conditions like epilepsy or Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) often attend regular schools, questioning what facilities might be lacking for their inclusion.

DMD is a genetic condition that causes muscles to weaken over time due to the absence of dystrophin, a protein vital for muscle health.
