Delhi schools ready for reopening amid pollution concerns, parents decisions divides
A debate has been started in schools in Delhi to reopen the schools amid the pollution, Schools in Delhi are bracing for the potential resumption of physical classes following the Supreme Court’s suggestion to restart them amidst slightly improved air quality.
While schools implement strict safety measures, parents remain caught between concerns over pollution exposure and the educational gap caused by remote learning.
WHAT ARE SCHOOLS DOING TO PREPARE FOR REOPENING?
To mitigate health risks, schools are taking proactive steps. Sudha Acharya, Principal of ITL Public School, Dwarka, shared that her school has issued an advisory promoting mask-wearing, carpooling, and rescheduling events.
We’ve postponed all major events, including annual and sports days, from November to February,” she said.
Similarly, Indraprastha School Principal Rajesh Hassija announced indoor morning assemblies and suspension of physical activities like yoga. "Masks are mandatory, and outdoor activities are minimised to curb exposure to pollutants," he noted.
Some schools are adding creative solutions to ensure student well-being. Vividh Gupta, Principal of Bal Bhavan Public School, Mayur Vihar, said, “We’ve advised full-sleeve uniforms and masks. The campus will be sprinkled with water twice daily to minimise dust."
"Younger students will engage in indoor activities like chess and painting during free periods," Gupta added.
