In a yet another achievement, it was announced that, Dr. Faizuddin Ahmed , Assistant Professor, from the Department of Physics of University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya, has been ranked among the top 2% scientists globally by Stanford University in their 2024 list, recognizing his exceptional research contributions in 2023.

Dr. Ahmed's consistent excellence has earned him a place on this prestigious list for five consecutive years.

Dr. Faizuddin Ahmed, a scientist from Dhubri district in lower Assam, has been able to enlist his name in Stanford’s list of top 2% scientists in the world along with over 1,000 other Indians. Dr Ahmed is among 60 other Indian Physicists, who have featured in the list of top 2% of the world scientists. With this, the scientist has brought laurels to Dhubri district as well as the state.

The prestigious list is prepared every year by a team of scientists in the US’ Stanford University, Ahmed said. Ahmed, son of late Saimuddin Ahmed, is a resident of Balajan, a remote village of Dhubri district and is currently serving as a teacher in a private school at Gauripur town of the district. He did his school education in Balajan High School and completed his graduation with honours in Physics from Bhola Nath College of Dhubri in 2006. After postgraduation, he earned PhD in Theoretical Physics from Gauhati University in 2016. After completing PhD, Ahmed returned to Dhubri and started a teaching job in a private school in a bid to meet the financial crisis faced by him and his family as well. But, despite financial constraints, he has continuously been carrying out his research works in Theoretical Physics (General Theory of Relativity and Quantum Mechanics) and doing his teaching job simultaneously.
