USTM Hosts Grand Alumni Meet to Celebrate ERDF Foundation’s Silver Jubilee Year
The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) organized a vibrant and emotionally charged Alumni Meet on 10th May 2025, aligned with the Silver Jubilee year celebration of the journey of institution building from CITC to USTM under ERDF where more than 40 thousand students passed out from various institutions. The event brought together former students from across the country and abroad, offering them a platform to reconnect with their alma mater and commemorate the shared legacy of ERDF. The event was graced by Hon'ble Chancellor of USTM Shri Mahbubul Hoque, Vice Chancellor Prof. G.D. Sharma along with other high officials of USTM and all the other institutions under ERDF.
The event commenced with an address by Ms. Anju Hazarika, Registrar USTM speaking about the legacy of various institions under ERDF.A key highlight of the meet was a thought-provoking panel discussion titled “Humble Beginning and Milestone 2030: Role of Alumni”, which offered a forward-looking narrative on the university’s vision and the integral part alumni will play in shaping its future. The session was skillfully moderated by Dr. Amit Choudhury, Dean School of Engineering & Technology, USTM & Shri NI Laskar, renowned PR consultant drawing enthusiastic participation and valuable insights from alumni spanning various batches and disciplines.Many performing students participated in the panel discussion.
The alumni also shared their opinions in the open-house discussions regarding the development of various institutions under ERDF.In his address, Chancellor Shri Mahbubul Hoque stated: "This celebration is not only about marking 25 glorious years of this journey,but also about acknowledging the role of our alumni who carry forward our mission in their personal and professional lives. USTM is what it is today because of every student who has walked its corridors."Hon’ble Vice Chancellor in his welcome address mentioned about the role of alumni in the growth of an institution.
On this grand occasion the 'PIMC Alumni Health Card' was launched for providing the best health care facilities to the families of the alumni with special privileges.

Under the committee a “District Alumni Chapter” in Assam and a “State Alumni Chapter” in other Northeastern states has been formed to connect with the alumni serving in various parts of the country and abroad. The Silver Jubilee Alumni Meet successfully ended with the vote of thanks by the Academic Registrar, USTM Dr. A.H. Barbhuiya. The Alumni meet rekindled old bonds, honored the ERDF legacy, with an appeal to make USTM a world-class institution by 2030.
