MEGHALAYA'S BIG PUSH FOR EDUCATION ELEVATION
Recently, in a massive drive to boost higher education, Meghalaya invested 3,000 crores, with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma conveying that the Meghalaya government remains resolute in ensuring comprehensive advancement in infrastructure for educational institutes.
This includes infrastructure upgrades, renovation, revamping, and new building constructions for all govt LP Schools, Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools, new colleges, and the first state university with a pitch for smart classrooms, technology-enabled learning across schools, high-level sports with sports infrastructure development for the forthcoming National Games to be hosted by Meghalaya, greater opportunities for the youth, and a pitch to tap into the talent of Northeast with music.
Aligning with this pledge, after 50 years, Meghalaya got its first state university in Captain Williamson Sangma State University, a testimony to the state government's commitment to prioritizing education.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma inaugurated Dalu Govt HS School in West Garo Hills, attended by Ministers A.T. Mondal and Marcuise Marak, MLAs Sanjay Sangma, Brening A Sangma, and Sengchim Sangma. The school is a two-storey building executed under Mission Education Phase I, the project is part of the state’s larger push to strengthen educational infrastructure.
Conrad Sangma stated that his government has invested close to Rs 3,000 crore in key sectors like education, sports, and entrepreneurship through initiatives such as CM Elevate and PRIME.
"These ongoing efforts reflect our commitment to youth welfare and overall development of the state," he said.
Chief Minister also inaugurated the PRIME Hub at Baghmara. "PRIME Hubs have emerged as centres to boost economic activities of entrepreneurs, SHGs and farmers, and are supporting the community in livelihood-generating activities. Dedicate it to the people," he wrote on X.
With close to Rs 3000 crores invested in education, sports, and entrepreneurship through different programs, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of funneling positive energy into the youth.
Taking Meghalaya to the next level, they are preparing for the National Games because IQA is cognizant of their capacity for the games.
