Breaking News: Meghalaya Civil Service Exam Overhaul
The Meghalaya government has introduced significant reforms to the Meghalaya Civil Service (MCS) examination, effective immediately. Chief Secretary DP Wahlang announced that the state cabinet has approved the removal of optional subjects from the MCS exam, aiming to create a level playing field for all candidates.
Here, candidates will no longer have the option to choose specific subjects, promoting fairness and equality among all applicants, uniform general studies papers will replace optional subjects, ensuring all candidates are tested on the same material, and order to elevate cultural awareness of Meghalaya, a dedicated paper focusing on the state's culture, history, and development plans will be introduced to assess a student's knowlege of their state.
The decision aims to eliminate any advantage or disadvantage due to the choice of optional subjects. Previously, candidates who opted for certain subjects, like Geography, scored higher than those who chose subjects like Commerce and English. With these reforms, the Meghalaya Public Service Commission seeks to ensure that all candidates have an equal opportunity to blossom.
