Cadet Tarina Khatun Shines at Idea & Innovation Camp, NIT Arunachal Pradesh
Cadet Tarina Khatun, a student of the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya, and a member of the 42 MEGH Battalion NCC, has brought laurels to the region by being selected among the top five innovators at the Idea & Innovation Camp held at NIT Arunachal Pradesh. The camp showcased groundbreaking projects from NCC cadets across the North-Eastern Region, focusing on creative solutions for defence and public service applications.
Cadet Tarina’s project, titled “Voice-Controlled UAV for Military Operations,” stood out for its ingenuity and practical relevance. Designed as a soldier’s aerial companion, the drone enables hands-free operation through voice commands, allowing soldiers to control and maneuver it during critical missions.
Equipped with a high-resolution camera, secure communication system, and microwave radar for hidden-person detection, the UAV enhances battlefield surveillance and situational awareness. Its lightweight and portable design reduces operational workload and eliminates the need for a dedicated operator.
Beyond its defense utility, the UAV can also assist in disaster management, border security, and rescue missions, making it a versatile innovation for multiple sectors.
Following her selection, Cadet Tarina Khatun will represent the North-Eastern Region at the upcoming Inter NCC Directorate Idea & Innovation Competition scheduled to be held in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, this November.
Her achievement underscores the NCC’s role in nurturing creativity, leadership, and technological innovation among young cadets, inspiring others to contribute to the nation’s progress through inventive thinking and skill development.
