union-govt-to-set-up-100-new-sainik-schools-amit-shah-inaugurates-mrc-sagar-sainik-school

The Union government will establish 100 new Sainik Schools across India under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Thursday. Shah was speaking during the virtual inauguration of the Motibhai R Chaudhary Sagar Sainik School (MRCSSS) and the Sagar Organic Plant, where he highlighted the government’s vision to expand opportunities for youth aspiring to join the armed forces.

The newly launched MRC Sagar Sainik School, constructed at a cost of ₹50 crore, is equipped with modern amenities such as smart classrooms, hostel facilities, a library and a canteen, according to an official release. Shah said the school would become a “symbol of pride” for Mehsana and form part of the Centre’s broader plan to strengthen military-oriented education across the country.

Speaking about the Sagar Organic Plant, Shah emphasised its potential to supply high-quality organic products under the Amul brand to both Indian and international markets. He noted that the facility will also ensure fair returns for farmers engaged in organic cultivation.

Reflecting on the growth of Dudhsagar Dairy, Shah stated that milk collection has risen dramatically—from 3,300 litres per day in 1960 to 35 lakh litres per day today. The cooperative now connects cattle-rearers across 1,250 villages in Gujarat and more than 10 lakh milk producers in Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. With a turnover of ₹8,000 crore, the dairy operates eight modern plants, two chilling centres, cattle feed units, and even a cement plant, making it a cornerstone of Gujarat’s White Revolution.

Shah added that several initiatives are underway to strengthen the dairy sector’s circular economy, including the formation of 75,000 new primary dairy cooperative societies nationwide. The government aims to ensure that 50% of the milk produced by cooperatives is marketed nationally and globally, thereby increasing the income of cattle-rearers. He also highlighted that women contribute nearly 70% of Amul’s total turnover, underscoring their pivotal role in the cooperative movement.

Referring to the recent unseasonal rains in Gujarat, Shah praised the Bhupendra Patel-led state government for swiftly announcing a comprehensive relief package for affected farmers, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the interests of the farming community.
