In a heartwarming display of perseverance and inspiration, 49-year-old Amuthavalli Manivannan and her daughter Samyuktha have both cleared the NEET UG 2024 examination — a rare feat that’s capturing attention across the country.

Amuthavalli, a physiotherapist by profession, had long harbored a dream of pursuing MBBS. Life and responsibilities meant that dream had to be shelved—until her daughter’s determination rekindled it. "My ambition was reignited watching her prepare. She was my greatest inspiration," Amuthavalli shared with a smile.

Samyuktha, a CBSE student, prepared rigorously with coaching and dedication, scoring 450 marks in the exam. She now hopes to secure a medical seat under the general or SC quota, preferably outside Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, Amuthavalli scored 147 marks and has successfully secured a seat at the Government Medical College in Virudhunagar under the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category. She attended special category counselling on July 30, which included children of ex-servicemen, PwBD, and government school students.

Reflecting on the journey, Amuthavalli noted the challenge of adapting to a modern syllabus after decades away from academics: "The syllabus was very different from my time, but with her help, I studied."

Though Samyuktha is keen to pursue her medical education independently and not at the same college as her mother, she remains the pillar behind Amuthavalli’s revived dream.

This inspiring mother-daughter story stands as a powerful reminder that age is no barrier to ambition, and that learning truly knows no bounds.
