The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released a list of 114 additional candidates from the Consolidated Reserve List of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024 to fill the remaining vacancies across various Central Services. The updated list of recommended candidates is now available on the Commission’s official website — upsc.gov.in.

According to the UPSC, the newly recommended candidates include 94 from the General category, 5 from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 13 from Other Backward Classes (OBC), and 1 each from the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories. These candidates will be appointed to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and various Central Services, Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.

Vacancy Distribution

Earlier, the Commission had announced a total of 1,129 vacancies for the CSE 2024 cycle. The posts were distributed as follows:

  • IAS: 180

  • IFS: 55

  • IPS: 147

  • Central Services, Group ‘A’: 605

  • Group ‘B’ Services: 142

Appointments are made in accordance with the number of vacancies reported by the Government of India, ensuring adequate representation across the services.

Rule-Based Recommendations

The UPSC clarified that the latest recommendations were made under Rules 20(4) and 20(5) of the Civil Services Examination Rules, 2024, following a formal request from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). The DoPT will directly communicate appointment details to the newly selected candidates.

Meanwhile, the candidature of 15 candidates has been marked as provisional, pending further verification of their eligibility documents.

CSE 2024 Timeline

  • Preliminary Examination: June 16, 2024

  • Mains Examination: September 20–29, 2024

  • Personality Test/Interview: January 7–April 17, 2025

  • Final Results Declared: April 22, 2025

The final results had initially recommended 1,009 candidates for appointment against the 1,129 available vacancies. With the inclusion of the 114 candidates from the reserve list, UPSC is set to fill all remaining posts, marking the successful completion of the CSE 2024 recruitment cycle.

This move ensures that every reported vacancy across the IAS, IFS, IPS, and other Central Services is duly filled in line with the Commission’s recruitment norms and procedures.
